A dream come true, crossing its spectacular doorway with a baroque coat of arms and breathing the taste for elegance and extravagance, feeling the grandeur of another era, still protected by the solid masonry walls of the Palace of the Marqués de Mercadal, built in the 17th century Alceda, Corvera de Toranzo.

Mercadal Palace is a simple conception, yet with an aristocratic feeling. A property with its personality, forged through its various rehabilitations carried out since its conception in 1737. Imposing building built next to the route of the old Camino Real de Burgos, square plan, with two masonry facades, the main one stands out, with two identical semicircular arches on pilasters and a large iron balcony above them.

The Palace is distributed over two floors plus an attic; we are greeted by its solemn ground floor of stone , diaphanous, with a large hall that precedes its spectacular living room with fireplace, surrounded by large windows filtering all over the place. A stunning stone staircase leads us to the first floor, the main one, with a very large distributor with chestnut floors. The second living room is magic, high ceilings, large windows facing west, with access to the three balconies with wrought iron balustrades on its main façade. We can enjoy views of the wonderful estate and the beauty of the mountains surrounding the Valles Pasiegos. On this same floor the property has four bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The attic floor also has a large hall, an area originally set up for the kitchen, three more bedrooms and two bathrooms.

The plot of 6,415 square metres has several buildings: palace, chapel, garden house, a beautiful outdoors dining area... All of them surrounded by a high-rise wall made of masonry, with stone cubes on the corners.

In front of the main façade of the Palace is the Chapel dedicated to San Antonio de Padua, built at the end of the 16th century, with the last remains of the old medieval tower.

The palace gardens are incredibly rich, an authentic beauty with a large number of centuries-old species: palm trees, avocado trees, holly trees, chestnut trees, pine trees, fig trees, hazelnut trees, reed beds, exotic cacti, yew trees, orange trees, lemon trees, banana trees...

This property is located in Corvera de Toranzo, a municipality of Cantabria in the Pas-Miera region (also called Valles Pasiegos) in the part of the Pas basin known as Valle de Toranzo. In Alceda, a town declared an Asset of Cultural Interest, in the category of Historic-Artistic Site in 1985. This is due to the fact that it has a whole series of mansions with coats of arms dating from the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries located next to the Camino Real which, Through the port of Escudo, it linked the Cantabrian coast with the Castilian plateau.

There is an abundant spring of sulphurous waters in the Alceda park, which since 1842 received a lot of people, currently there is a spa there. It has a natural park on the banks of the Pas river, next to the Alceda Spa, with 7 hectares of land many species of trees.
